Faber is an old man who knows he is too old to deal with the current issues with books and the law but the hope in Montag's eyes gives him willingness to help him escape. You could tell Beatty was under the influence of the government when he was giving Montag his final chance to overcome and hate the books again, but i'm guessing he could see past and hear the false accusations he was trying to state. Especially when he entered the firehouse the way Bradbury described it he was weary and kinda second guessing his plan and coming back. The more the book goes on it keeps reminding me of the USSR. You can tell the author is trying to forsee the future with his ideas like the parlor, hound and some of the other non-real items he has described. Montag still seems like he cared more about Clarisse than his wife in the way that he can't help bu think about her, and the way he talks of her. Does Millie really love and care about Montag? If she does why would she tell on him, and let her friends do the same, so that he is in danger with the government, and their house can get burnt down? And Montag killed?
